SIGUE GIRANDO PLANETA RECIPE FOR PUERTORRICAN COQUITO

Puerto Rican Coquito

Traditional and other flavors.
2 cups coconut milk
1 (8.5oz) cream of coconut (1 can)
1 (12oz) evaporated milk (1 can)
1 (14oz) condensed milk (1 can)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Cinnamon powder
2 cinnamon sticks
White Puerto Rican Rum to taste

Procedure:

Mix all ingredients in a blender, except the cinnamon sticks. The cinnamon sticks will be placed inside the bottle where you will storage it. The cinnamon powder I use it to give color to the drink because I don’t like it to look like milk, so white, besides cinnamon will add “sparkle” taste to it.

Rum, depending who will consume this drink, I use between 1 to 2 cups of white puertorrican rum. Consider preparing a bottle without rum for the young, children and virgin spirit ones, because this so sweet drink it’s all ages favorite for the holidays.

Refrigerate at least for 4 hours before serving. This drink is served very cold, some people may add two cubes of ice. Shake well before serving. Garnish by sparkling some cinnamon powder on top and decorate with a cinnamon stick if you like.

Ideal as a cordial, after your dinner. Some of us, use it as a drink in small portions until the puertorrican run starts running thru your veins and is when your start singing the “parrandas”. Consume alcohol responsibly.

Be Creative Add Some Variation to the Traditional Coquito:

Include other flavors to your Coquito Recipe by adding the following flavors.

_Chocolate- 1 cup of Ginger tea, ½ cup of chocolate syrup, and cointreau to taste.
_Pumpkin cream- 1 can of cream of pumpkin, 1 teaspoon of almond flavor.
_Oreo Cookies- grounded oreo cookies (1 pack without the cream), ½ cup of chocolate syrup, 1 cup of ginger tea (optional).
_Nutella- 1 ½ cup of nutella, 1 ½ Bailey’s (can be substituted with gold rum)
_Almond- 1 cup ginger tea, ½ teaspoon of almond liquor.
_Pistachio- pistachio ice cream, 1 teaspoon of pistachio flavor.

The list can go on and on…

Cheers!
